Abstract

 

Synthesis and characterization of chitosan-based composite, silica and calcium phosphate have been conducted. The purpose of this research was to study of the effect of pH and chitosan on the composite character. Synthesis of materials have carried out by sol-gel method. The optimum pH for this process was pH = 5. Composite was synthesized using a variation of chitosan: (0.15, 0.25, and 0.35 g in 34 mL mixture). From optical microscope photoghraphs can be seen the uniformity of the composite particle obtained from this research decrease as the chitosan content increase. FTIR show at the availability functional group -OH and -NH of chitosan, phosphate, and Si-OH and Si-O-Si of silica. The PSA analysis showed that there was no effect of the amount of chitosan on to the change of particle size.
